REIKI Radiance

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word representing universal life energy, the energy which is all around us. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words: Rei, or universal spirit (sometimes thought of as a supreme being), and ki.

Thus, the word Reiki means "universal life energy."

Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular pattern to heal and harmonize. Unlike other healing therapies based on the premise of a human energy field, Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced.

Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness.  When we practice Kundalini Yoga, we allow ourselves to go beyond our ego and reach our true selves.  We give ourselves the gift of control over the mind, instead of having our mind control us.

Kundalini Yoga strengthens the nervous system, stretches and builds muscles, stimulates circulation and gives our bodies an internal massage.  It allows us to work on ourselves from the inside out.  It is a practice that takes us beyond our mind so we can follow our hearts.  Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, involves movement, breath work, meditation and mantra.

The benefits of this yoga are multiplied in comparison to other types of yoga, as Kundalini Yoga incorporates the essence of basic yoga postures and includes sacred teachings and meditations previously held secret. Yogi Bhajan came to the west and began sharing these sacred teachings in 1969.

In this day and age, with increased technology and an overload of information, it is important that we are able to recharge ourselves so we can cope with the challenges of everyday life.  Many medical doctors are now encouraging patients to do yoga for better health and wellness, because the research is evident that the benefits are great. Kundalini Yoga is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

So, experience it for yourself (under the guidance of a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor/Teacher) and you will be truly uplifted.

Dr. Donna Siluk (Prakash Kaur) has been a certified Level One Kundalini Yoga Instructor since May 2006.  She is currently working on her Level Two Certification.

The "aura" is the energy field that surrounds you. All living things have an energy field.

Eastern philosophy tells us that the energy field is what keeps us healthy, and a disruption in the flow of energy will manifest itself in the physical body as disease.

Our Aura system is the latest in technology, and is one of only 300 in the world.

This is an excellent opportunity to see your aura and the condition of your chakras.

Suicide- Causes, Consequences, and Treatment Implications

The incidence of suicide is up over 800% over the last 10 years and appears to be climbing at incredible rates. Every 18 minutes, someone in the United States commits suicide. There are over 5,000 suicides of 5 to 14 year olds every year.

Clinicians need to be equipped to identify those at risk of suicide and be competent in interventions that will create safety for the client. This workshop examines who commits suicide, the 5 stages of suicide, the suicide assessment, actual interventions that work and the importance of using our humanity in a non-judgmental, caring and empathetic way that helps clients find a reason to want to live.

Substances of Abuse

The incidence of substance abuse with licit and illicit drugs has skyrocketed over the past 20 years causing a national crisis. The consequences and costs associated with it have permeated society at every level.

Clinicians, regardless of area of practice, are required to deal with the effects of its use on individuals, groups, and community systems daily. Despite the prevalence of substance abuse in our society, little formal training is afforded clinicians in building a knowledge base about substances of abuse to further their practice skills. An understanding of the actions and patterns of abuse is essential in effective clinical practice.
